Mallorca Convention Bureau (MCB) honours the Pilar i Joan Miró foundation with the prestigious Esfera de Honor 2014

The Pilar i Joan Miró foundation of Palma received on Tuesday the 29th of September at its premises, the Esfera de Honor 2014 award given by Mallorca Convention Bureau, in recognition of its international promotion of the legacy of the artist and the island of Mallorca.

MCB annually awards the prize Esfera de Honor to individuals, companies or institutions that spread the name of Mallorca around the world and help the association in its promotional work. Air Berlin, Rafa Nadal or La Copa de Rey de Vela are some of the awarded in the past years.

Martin Adrover, president of MCB, highlighted the link the artist had with Mallorca and the importance of the foundation as the core of the cultural offerings of the city “as the organisers of conferences and conventions increase the cultural demand”. He therefore urged public and private, tourist and cultural institutions, to work hand in hand to achieve an attractive offer to capture the interest of the tourists along with Congresses.

José Hila, Mayor of Palma’s town hall, said in his speech that they opt for congress tourism, a sector that has a future and that they will support to benefit the industry and the city of Palma in its various manifestations.

The event was attended by Pilar Carbonell, General Director of Tourism of the Government, Paula Ginard, Insular Director of Tourism, Carmen Planas, president of the Caeb, also by known gallery owners and tourism professionals.
